What to bring to your first hair appointment
Photos, your color history and an honest budget make a first visit go faster and better.
By Stephenie Powers
Bring two photos
Bring the look you keep saving and a photo of your own hair on a good day. Then point out the exact part you like: the length, the shape or the way the color catches the light. One detail tells me more than a folder of pictures.
Bring your color history
Tell me about every color that’s been on your hair, including box dye and anything you covered later. Rough dates are fine. Old permanent color doesn’t wash out, and it changes what a new color can do.
Be honest about upkeep and budget
How often do you want to come back, and what do you want to spend? A look you can keep up with is better than one that needs a visit every four weeks. Every price is on my price list, so you can plan before you book.
Wear your hair the way you usually do
If you can, come in with your hair styled the way you wear it most days. It shows me how it falls and how you handle it.
