GLOSSARY
Hair words,
in plain English.
The terms you’ll see on my menu and hear in the chair.
- Partial highlights
Foils placed in selected areas, often around the face and on top, for brightness where you want it.
Related service- Full highlights
Highlights placed throughout the hair for brightness and contrast all over.
Related service- High-impact highlights
Maximum blonding with foils, plus extra lightening on the ends.
Related service- Lived-in color
Color with some depth kept at the root so it grows out softly and needs fewer visits.
Related service- All-over color
One shade from roots to ends, at the same depth or darker. It doesn’t lighten hair.
Related service- Root touch-up
Color applied to new growth at the roots to match the rest of your hair.
Related service- Bleach & Tone
A maintenance retouch for lightened hair: bleach on the new growth, then toner to set the shade.
Related service- Toning
A step after lightening that adjusts the shade, such as cooling brassy warmth.
Related service- Gray blending
Color placed to soften the contrast of incoming gray instead of covering it all.
Related service- Color correction
Work to fix color that went wrong: too dark, uneven, banded or the wrong tone. Priced by the hour after a consultation.
Related service- Olaplex treatment
A bond-building treatment for hair stressed by color or heat. On my menu as a stand-alone treatment with a blowout.
Related service- Blowout
A wash and blow-dry style without a cut.
Related service- Hand-tied extensions
Rows of extension hair attached to your own hair to add length, fullness or both.
Related service- Consultation
A conversation before the work: your hair, your goal and the plan. Color Correction and Extensions each have one.
